The Children's Museum was destroyed by Hurricane Irma in 2017. This page is kept to document the changes to the island.
The basement of the historic Ginnery building is home to the interactive Children’s museum where young Barbudans and visitors can explore and experience aspects of Barbudan life, nature and traditional “living from the land”. This space includes a cave, a mock archaeological excavation site where
children make their own discoveries, an observational beehive and an exhibit on the mangrove ecosystem that is fundamental in protecting the island in times of inclement weather. The exhibits are designed to educate on the importance of the interaction between people and nature, climate change, food security and sustainability.
